What if human flight wasn’t a superpower, but a product feature? In this tragicomic vignette, we inhabit the mind of a “flying man” – a being bred or built for the sole purpose of aerial entertainment. He possesses no talent for it , suffers from vertigo , and longs for a simpler existence, perhaps as a test unit in a laboratory or a hunting hound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story explores the terror of total helplessness. As the narrator rises toward the sun, controlled by a string from the ground <\/sup>, he realizes his fate lies not in the hands of an experienced adult, but in the clumsy grip of a child<\/sup>. The ending reveals a shift in perspective that recontextualizes the narrator’s entire existence as a mere toy for dragons<\/sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Author’s Note:<\/strong> This piece plays with the concept of scale and agency. It is a metaphor for those moments in life when we feel objectified by forces larger than ourselves – treated as “rejects” simply because we do not fit the mold designed by others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
